Women Whose Photographs Changed How We View The World

Writing for the blog, Art & Object, Caterina Bellinetti give us an essay with images that may be the perfect read at the end of International Womens’ Month. In Female Photographers Who Shaped The Way We Look At The World, Dr. Bellinetti reminds us of Margaret Bourke-White, Lisa Larsen, Martha Holmes, Nina Leen, and Marie Hansen. All were photojournalists for Life Magazine, and elevated their scenes beyond the “man receives award while others look on” level. For those of us who knew Life magazine early in life, the accompanying photos will bring back fond memories.

Dr. Caterina Bellinetti is an art historian specialized in photography and Chinese visual propaganda and culture.
