2026 PPF Annual Book: "Elemental: Earth Water Air Fire"
This year PPF is publishing a member book titled, “Elemental - Earth Water Air Fire”. This book will be a celebration of the work that PPF members make.
The theme "Elemental" gives us broad creative latitude. You can interpret Earth, Water, Air, or Fire literally (landscapes, seascapes, storms, wildfire documentation) or metaphorically (emotional fluidity, transformation, grounding, intensity).Our classical elements (Earth, Water, Air, Fire) as literal or metaphorical forces shaping the natural world and human experience.
You may interpret this theme as broadly as you wish.
All current PPF members are invited to participate by submitting 2 or 4 photos. Submission deadline is September 22, 2026. For details, see below.
The book will feature a 2 to 4-page spreads of 2 or 4 photos for each participating PPF member. Each participant will submit a 1-paragraph statement describing their selection of photos and why the photos are important. Your descriptive statement should relate to the entire group of photos and not each individually. In addition, you should also include a list of titles of your photographs, location if appropriate, and numbered in order of appearance in the book.
If you would like to participate:
*You must be a current member of the Portland Photographers’ Forum.
* Select 2 or 4 photos to submit in jpeg format sized to 3000 px on the long side.
* Label the files as follows: “First Initial_Last Name_photo #” (example: J_ Doe_1). Number your photos in the order you would like them to be displayed.
* Write your statement describing your selection of photos. This can be editable text within the body of your submission email, Pages, or MS Word attachment.
* In your statement, provide a numerical list of your photos with their associated titles so that we know which photo goes with which title.
* Submit your text and photo files to Dawn Kowalewski (please use "Book Submission" in the subject line of the email) at: submissions@portlandphotographersforum.com
*The deadline for submissions is September 22 at Midnight!
We hope that this project will be a defining statement about the artistry of PPF at this point-in-time and that many of you will include your wonderful work.
